Our Mission

Know. Grow. Sow.

In Mark 16:15, Jesus instructed his disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.” At VCB, we know that Jesus was not just making a suggestion, but he was setting the expectation of His church. In Matthew 13, we see Jesus give us the strategy to getting that gospel into the world. The farmer represents the believers. The seed represents the Word of God, and the ground represents those who are yet to believe. Jesus says that the farmer was scattering seed, which means he was throwing it and hoping it would land on fertile ground. Even though some of the seed did not survive, much of it did. Sometimes it survived even in infertile areas. We see this when we look in the crack of a sidewalk and see a little life springing up. At some point, some way, a seed was sown in what looked like infertile ground. We must remember that we are not the judges of the ground; we are the seed sowers, but God gives all the increase. (1Corinthians 3:7) Our mission is to be seed sowers into the world, and by sowing seed, we trust that God will cause growth, and that will increase the body of Christ.

Why we are here

“For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
1 Corinthians 9:19-22
